“Over the course of the last three years, we have seen a tremendous shift towards digital adoption across each tier. Retailers, distributors, and suppliers have unlocked online solutions to generate efficiencies within their organizations while strengthening the connection between them. As a result, the beverage alcohol industry is experiencing tremendous growth. Despite living in a post-pandemic world, we will continue to see the upward trend of ecommerce, especially in the B2B ecosystem.”
Taylor Katzman, Founder & CEO, Provi
Alcohol ecommerce is on the rise. New data from IWSR revealed that alcohol e-commerce sales are predicted to grow by 34% between 2021-2026. This followed a value growth of 12% in 2019 and an almost 43% growth in 2020. While this is largely consumer-facing, linear growth in B2C ecommerce will influence growth in B2B ecommerce, too. In fact, 49% of all B2B purchases across all industries are now made online. This number will grow as bars, restaurants and retail shops migrate to digital tools to streamline their operations and ordering processes. The digital transformation, exacerbated by the pandemic, has impacted every tier of the bev-alc industry with no signs of slowing down.
On- and off-premise buyers order what consumers want. So, what happens inside the Provi marketplace is indicative of how consumers consume outside of the B2B ecommerce ecosystem. Let’s look at Provi marketplace buyer behavior from 2022.
