Sustainability is a defining element of the conscious consumer and brands have taken notice

In today’s world, sustainability is a key factor in how a brand operates and markets its products. It’s for good reason — apart from the ecological benefits, it’s a healthy business move. Recent research from IWSR shows that nearly half of alcohol consumers say sustainability practices influence whether they buy from a company or not. That means if a brand isn’t focusing on sustainability in their production, packaging or shipping, then they could be leaving a sale up to a coin flip.

Sustainability focus in the bev-alc industry has seen companies reduce package sizes, use less plastic, ensure production uses renewable energy or resources, or pledge to make better waste management decisions. So why should companies take the risk of asking “Do Spirits Need to Be Sustainable to Sell?” when they can be proactive in the bev-alc space and start doing some good?

From composting and carbon-neutral certifications to wind turbines and geothermal energy, take a look at some of the ways big brands are putting their sustainability foot forward.
